About Us/Who We Are

The TNGenWeb Project has been dedicated to its mission of providing the single best on-line source for Tennessee family and local history since July, 1996. A network of volunteers work to provide researchers with genealogical and historical content for each of Tennessee's 95 current counties plus defunct counties and special interest topics.

We are a Tennessee-chartered non-profit corporation, registered as TNGenNet, TNGenWeb Project Tennessee Genealogical Network, Inc. Click here to view our Bylaws.

The TNGenWeb Project is an affiliate of the USGenWeb Project. Tennessee is bordered by the following states, each of which has a USGenWeb-affiliated site: Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri.

This project is comprised of an organized group of volunteers working to create a source location for online genealogical research for every county in the state of Tennessee. You can learn more about our history here. Our bylaws are also online.

Here at the TNGenWeb Project you will find many FREE resources to help you in your genealogy & family history quest. We, the volunteers of the TNGenWeb Project, are committed to maintaining and enhancing this project for the benefit of the public good.

Happy Hunting!
