Ex partee NOAH FLOYD

Be it remembered that this day NOAH B. FLOYD and JANE FLOYD presented their petition to court asking the adoption of TINY NOWELL which petition is in the words as follows –

To the worshipful county court of Crockett County Tennessee.

Your Petitioners NOAH B. FLOYD and JANE FLOYD would most respectfully state to your worship that they desire to adopt one TINY NOWELL as their child.

Your Petitioner NOAH FLOYD states the reasons for making this application is as follows – He and wife have no children of their mariage that the said TINY NOWELL is as your Petitioner NOAH B. FLOYD believes his, that she was born out of lawful wedlock and the mother of Said child has since married and is now Mr. WALTER HEATH the said mother is poor and your petitioner having no other child or children feels that it is right and proper that the said child should inherit his property at his death and the death of his wife they do not ask the custody of said child and your Petitioner NOAH B. FLOYD only ask said adoption for the reason above given and ask the name of said child which is now known as TINY NOWELL be changed to that of FLOYD all parties live in this County. Pressenses considered.

They pray for said adoption and the chang of said name signed by

When the court being satisfied as to the reasons given for said adoption and the chang of said name. It is therefore ordered adjudged and Decreed that the name of said TINY NOWELL be changed to that of FLOYD and that said child be and is hereby adopted by said petitioners and the said child is herby declared entitled to all the rights of inheritance of said Petitioners as though said child was the legitimate child of Petitioners.
