On motion BENJAMIN C. BRIDGER was this day appointed administrator of the Estate of NANCY BRIDGER deceased whereupon the said BENJAMIN BRIDGER came into Court was duly Qualified entered into and acknowledged his bond in the sum of Two thousand Dollars with W. M. GRIFFIN and JOHN A. YEARWOOD as his securities who severally acknowledged said bond in open Court which was approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded ordered that letters of Administration issue to the said BENJAMIN C. BRIDGER

Petition to divide Land

To the Worshipful County Court of Crockett County Tennessee

REDMAN BRIDGER of the County of Haywood, RICHARD BRIDGER, BENJAMIN BRIDGER, JOHN BRIDGER, WILLIAM TYLER & wife MARTHA, ARON YEARWOOD & wife SARAH of the County of Crockett and State of Tennessee Petitioners

VS

CIVIL BRIDGER, ALPRALY BRIDGER, LETTIE BRIDGER & WILLIAM BRIDGER Minor Children of WILLIAM BRIDGER & CHARLES FAULKNER their regular Guardian all of the Count of Crockett defendants.

Petitioners would respectfully represent unto your worship that NANCY BRIDGER departed this life in the County of Crockett on the 24 day of August 1872. That she died seized of real and personal property that her personal propery is more than sufficient to pay all of her debts. That she was owner in part at the time of her death of a certain tract of Land situated Lyiny and being in the County of Crockett and State of Tennessee in the fifth Civil district of said County Bounded as follows to wit on the south by F. J. WOOD & L. W. DANIEL on the west by BENJAMIN BRIDGER on the north by RICHARD BRIDGER on the East by W. B. JONES containg 146 one hundred forty six acres the same having been Conveyed to the said NANCY BRIDGER from JAMES GOODMAN, PRISCILLA GOODMAN & JOSEPH BRIDGER by deed bearing date of 11 October 1843 and Registered in Regester office in Haywood County on the 13 March 1844 in Book L page 76.

Petitioners would further state that they together with defendants who are minors and who have a regular Guardian are the only heirs & distributees of said NANCY BRIDGER deceased and as such are the owners in comon of said Land that REDMAN BRIDGER is entitle to one share therein RICHARD BRIDGER one share BENJAMIN BRIDGER one share JOHN BRIDGER one share WILLIAM TYLER & wife MARTHA one share ARON YEARWOOD & wife SARAH one share and CIVIL, ALPHRADA, LIDDY & WILLIAM BRIDGER Minor Children of WILLIAM BRIDGER deceased one share.

Your petitioners would further show that said Lands is in all respects unincumbered Premises considered your petitioners would respectfully petition your worshipful Court to appoint Commissioners in conjunction with your County Surveyor to make partition of 146 acres of Land according to Quanity and Quality among the heirs and distributees of said Estate. That copy & subpeona issue for defendants and their regular Guardian CHARLES FAULKNER to appear at the November term of this Court and plead answer or demur this petition or the same will be taken as confessed and declared Exparte as to them

Petition to divide Land

On motion in this case it is ordered by the Court that Copy and subpoena issue commanding said defendants and their regular Guardian CHARLES FAULKNER to appear at the November term of this Court and plead answer or demur to petitioners petition or the same will be taken as conferred as to them and the prayer of the petitioners granted

This cause came on to be heard and it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court from the returns made by the Sheriff that a portion of the defendants in this case Viz WILLIAM BRIDGER and CIVIL BRIDGER & CHARLEY FAULKNER can not be found. It is therefore ordered subpoena issue to the Sheriff for WILLIAM BRIDGER and CIVIL BRIDGER and CHARLES FAULKNER to make their appearance at the next term of this Court and all further proceedings in this cause are held up till the next term of this Court.

On motion C. C. FAULKNER was this day appointed Guardian of CIVIL BRIDGER, ALPHRADY BRIDGER, LIDDY BRIDGER and WILLIAM BRIDGER where upon the said C. C. FAULKNER came into Court and entered into Bond in the sum of Two hundred dollars with BEN C. BRIDGER and WILLIAM FAULKNER as his securities, who severally acknowledged said Bond in open Court which was approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded and the said C. C. FAULKNER was duly qualified as the law directs.

December the 3rd A. D. 1872

It appearing to the Courth that CHARLES FAULKNER the regular Guardian of the minor children of WILLIAM BRIDGER deceased was served with regular process five days befoe Court and he failed to answer. It is therefore taken for Confessed and set for trail Ex parte as to him

This case came on to be heard on petition and answer and it appearing to the Court that the Petitioner and defendants are the heirs of NANCY BRIDGER deceased and as such are entitle to equal shares of said Lands lying in Crockett County district No 5 Containing 144 acres bounded by… F.J. WOOD, W. B. JONES, BEN BRIDGER & RICHARD BEIDGER… It is therefore ordered by the Court that L. W. DANIEL, W. B. JONES free holders in said County in Connection with the County Surveyor W. A. JOHNSON to divide into seven equal parts and allot to each of of said Petitioners and defendants one of said lots accordingly and report to the next term of this Court.

Wednesday, January the 8th A. D. 1873

This cause came on finally to be heard. The report of the Commissioners which is as follows.

To the Worshipful County Court of Crockett County We your Commissioners pursuant to the annexed order Issued at the December term of said Court to lay off and set apart to the Heirs of NANCY BRIDGER each their distributive share or undivided Interest in the Lands owned by the said NANCY BRIDGER at her death and to make the following as our report. That we met on the premises and surveyed the entire tract and found It to Contain one hundred and fifty one acres & 1/2 and that there was Seven shares or seven heirs and that RICHARD C. BRIDGER had bought two shares to wit J. H. BRIDGER and REDMAN BRIDGER as such owned three shares We therefore proceeded to lay off and set apart to each their share and interest agreeable to Quality and Quantity as shown in the plat of the surveyor accompanying this report.

First we laid off and set apart to the Heirs of WILLIAM BRIDGER deceased The defendants to petition &c; This share for distrobuten Interest as follows to wit… bounded by R. C. BRIDGER… coutaining Twenty 20 acres.

And that we laid off and set apart to BENJAMIN C. BRIDGER as his share or interest Lot No 2… containing by estimation Sixteen acres 16.

And that we laid off and set apart to MRS. M. E. TYLER Lot Not 3… bounded by RICHARD C. BRIDGER & the Grave yard… containing by estimation Twenty one 21 acres.

And that we laid off and set apart to MRS. S. H. YEARWOOD Lot No 4… bounded by R. C. BRIDGER… containing Eighteen acres 18.

And that we laid off and set apart to RICHARD C. BRIDGER seventy six acres in three Lots marked as shown in the pat No 5 it being the share and interest of REDMAN BRIDGER and J. H. BRIDGERS in connection with the distributive share of the said R. C. BRIDGER He having bought and obtained a deed from the said REDMAN and J. H. BRIDGER for their Interest in the said Lands… bounded by R. C. BRIDGER… containing by estimation seventy six acres 76 more or less.

By survey we found the original tract to Contain 151 1/2 acres and estimated the same at $25 per acre making 3787.50 and there were seven Heirs each having an interest worth $541 dollars and we so divided and estimated each lot and distributive share as shown in the plat and calls here with filed and as per agreement with the petitioners after laying off Minor heirs Interest they had surveyed off in Connection with the grave yard sixty poles 60 of land as shown in the plat for buerrying ground for the family Connection and relation? for which the profere? to make a deed all of which is respectfully submitted after being duly sworn.

Which report is in all things confermed by the Court theer being no objection and it is decreed that the shears of each allotted in said report be devested out of them and vested in each respectively to the particular share so alloted to them. It is decreed further that each of the parties pay equal shears of cot for which Executors may issue.
