Know all men by these presents that for and in consideration of eight hundred dollars as follows, two hundred and twenty four dollars each in hand and one note of this date for two hundred and seventy six dollars due December 25th, 1880 and one note of this date for three hundred dollars due the 25th December, 1881, to us given by D.P. Janes (sic) have this day bargained and sold and by these presents convey unto D.P. Janes (sic), his heirs and co. the following tract of land lying in the first civil district of Crockett County, Tennessee bounded as follows, Beginning at a red oak, Joshua Casey’s S.E. corner runs south 86 poles to a red oak with frost oak and red oak pointers thence west 81 poles to a stake with two small red oak and frost oak pointers thence north 86 poles to a stake with white oak pointers thence east 81 poles to the beginning containing 47 acres more or less to have and to hold said land unto said D.P. Janes (sic) his heirs and assigns forever we covenant with him that we are lawfully seized of said land and have a good right to sell and convey it, and we bind ourselves our heirs and representatives to warrant and forever defend the title to said land against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever.

Personally appeared before me J.W. Rosamon Notary Public for said county Thos. W. Kenner bargainer to the foregoing deed with whom I am personally acquainted and acknowledged that he executed the same for the purposes therein expressed and E.C. Kenner wife of the said Thos. W. Kenner having appeared before me privately and apart from her husband acknowledged that she executed said Deed freely voluntarily and understandingly without compulsion or constraint from her husband and for the purposes therein expressed, Witness my hand and seal of office, on this 23rd February 1880,
