ALLEN CURRIE, A COLORED MINOR ORPHAN, WAS THIS DAY BROUGHT INTO COURT AND BY THE COURT APPRENTICED TO THOMAS H. MIDYETT. THEREUPON THE SAID THOS. H. MIDYETT CAME INTO COURT AND ENTERED INTO AN OBLIGATION FOR THE FAITHFUL PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES AS MASTER TO SAID APPRENTICE AND FOR THE PAYMENT OF $40.00 WHEN SAID APPRENTICE SHALL HAVE ARRIVED AT 18 YEARS OF AGE WITH J.A.M. BATCHELOR AND C.E. RUSS AS HIS SECURITIES.

ON JUNE 16, 1915 LAURA J. MIDYETT STATES THAT SHE WAS BORN OCT. 24, 1847 AND THAT SHE IS THE WIDOW OF THOMAS H. MIDYETT WHO WAS A SOLDIER OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES. THAT HE WAS A MEMBER OF CAPT. VOSS’ 14th REGIMENT OF CAVALRY, COMPANY “C” OF HAYWOOD CO., TENNESSEE AND THAT HE WAS DISCHARGED APRIL 1865. SHE STATES HER HUSBAND DIED MARCH 11, 1913.

ON JUNE 16, 1915 JESSE BRILEY SWORE BEFORE A JUSTICE OF THE PEACE THAT HE HAD KNOWN T.H. MIDGETT & HIS WIFE, LAURA, FOR 50 YEARS; THAT HE WAS A CONFEDERATE SOLDIER IN CO. “C”, 14th REG. OF THE CAVALRY AND THAT HE SERVED FROM 1862-1865.
ON JULY 14, 1915 J.E. SUMNER SWORE BEFORE A JUSTICE OF THE PEACE THAT HE HAD KNOWN T.H. MIDGETT FOR 60 YEARS AND THAT HE BELONGED TO COMPANY “C”, 14th REGIMENT OF TENNESSEE CAVALRY UNDER COLONEL WHITE AND CAPTAINS VOSS AND GRIER; THAT HE SERVED FROM EARLY 1862 TO THE CLOSE OF THE WAR IN 1865
