(Extracted from White's Genealogical Abstracts, p. 1869) "Daniel Jones Sr. (1757-1841) at the age of 22 [ca 1779] joined the Revolutionary Army at Hillsborough [Orange Co], North Carolina. He served as Private under Archibald LYTLE'S N.C. Regiments. He drew a pension, claim S1915. After the war he came to and settled in Hawkins Co, TN, date unknown. He was taxed in Hawkins Co. in 1789 for a spotted boar (Knoxville Gazette, 1792) and on account book of Thomas AMIS store in 1794. In 1796, was conveyed 3 acres of land on Beech Creek, South of the Holston River to build a mill from Mason COMBS. He owned 144 acres on both side of Beech Creek..." 1814-1855 served in the NC Line and War of 1812, was born Mar 1761 in "Old Henry" Co, Virginia, and lived in Surry Co, VA [NC?] during the Revolutionary War, and lived in Spartansburg Dist, SC during the War of 1812. He lived in Surry Co, NC a short time after his service in the Revolutionary War, then moved to Old Henry Co, VA, returned to Surry NC, then moved to Lincoln Co, NC, then moved to Spartanburg Dist, SC, and he lived there when he served in War of 1812, and afterwards moved to Carter Co, TN, and shortly after the War of 1812, he moved to Burke Co, NC, then moved to Washington Co, TN where he applied on 27 Feb 1852.
