RIPLEY - James Allen Maness, 24, restaurant manager, died Sunday at his home after an apparent suicide. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Mary's Chapel Baptist Church with burial in the Mary's Chapel Cemetery. Garner Funeral Home has charge. James M. Maness --After an extended illness, Mr. J.M. Maness died at his home in Ripley at an early hour Sunday morning. The funeral was held that afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. M.F. Savage, assisted by Dr. L.O. Leavell, and the remains were laid to rest in Mary's Chapel cemetery by the side of his wife who passed away in September, 1921. Mr. Maness was born in McNairy County, but moved to Lauderdale at an early age and had lived here practically all his life. For 27 years he was a valued employee of the firm of J.Y. Barbee & Co. and later was a salesman for R.C. Klutts and R.C. Klutts & Sons. He was a member of the Baptist church and was 73 years old last January. On July 9, 1873, he married Miss Anna Perry and five children survive this union: Mrs. A.L. Spiller, of Nut Bush; Mrs. Oscar Oddie, of Salisbury, N.C.; Mr. Lyle Maness, of Jackson; Mrs. B.H. White and Mr. J.M. Maness, Jr., of Memphis. Mr. Maness was a good citizen and had many friends in Ripley and throughout the county. ENTERPRISE Friday May 7, 1926

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Marys Chapel Baptist Church near here with burial in the church cemetery. Garner Funeral Home has charge.
