J. T. Langley was born September 2nd, 1868, and died December 1st, 1925, age 57 years. He was married to Miss Nina WEBB on February 1st, 1905. To this union six children were born, five boys and one girl, four of whom survive with his wife and mother. Also his father, four brothers and a host of friends. His body was laid to rest in Grace Cemetery the following day in the presence of a large gathering and his grave was covered with beautiful flowers. Rev. J. M. KENDALL, his pastor and Rev. J. A. KELLY, of the Dyersburg Circuit, conducted the funeral. Mr. LANGLEY was a good man, and attended to his own business. He joined the New Hope Church in 1908 and held his membership there till death. May the good Lord, who doeth all things well, bless his family. A Friend.

O. B. Langley, 75, of Ripley, retired mechanic, died Monday in Baptist Hospital Lauderdale in Ripley. Rites are set a 2 p.m. Friday in Ripley Church of God, with burial in Grace Cemetery, Garner Funeral Home in charge, He leaves his wife. Shirley Sparks Langley; sons, Rickey Langley, of Tennessee, and Gary Lilley, of Mecca, Ind.; daughters, Diane Sorensen, of Ripley, Linda Carol Krewson, of Memphis, and Theresa Hurliman, of Missoula, Mont.; a brother, Wayne Langley, and a sister, Dorothy Connell, of Ripley; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

On March 16, 1932 Mrs. Emily E. Russell Lyell passes away at the home of her son, Butler LYELL. She had been confined to her bed with a broken limb for nine weeks, the first five of which were spent in the Baptist Hospital, Memphis. Mrs. LYELL was born in Christian County, KY, April 19, 1848, and moved to Lauderdale County in 1890. She married John W. LYELL on July 29, 1866. To this union was born nine children, five boys and four girls, five of whom preceded her in death. In 1898 death claimed the husband . The four children surviving are J. R. LYELL, of Trenton, Mrs. Susie SHAND, Henry LYELL and Butler LYELL, both of this county. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. STOKES, of Curve at Grace Church and she was laid to rest in Grace cemetery.

Tilford Douglas Rickard, 74, of Memphis, brother of Ron Rickard and Evelyn Marcy, of Ripley, died Saturday, after having suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. Rites were Monday in First Assembly of God in Cordova, with burial in Grace Cemetery near Ripley, Forest Hill East Funeral Home in Charge. He was born at Ripley, July 20, 1932, to the late Ned and Louise Hutcherson Rickard. He was the step-son of the late Lois Jenkins Rickard. He was a Korean War veteran who served in Germany. He retired after 37 years with Kimberly-Clark in Memphis. He organized and was lead singer in the Calvary Quartet, a gospel group well known in the Tri-States in the ‘70s and ‘80s. He had been a lay minister. Survivors include his wife for 48 years, Daisy Gitchell Rickard; sons, Dustin, of Memphis, and Doug, of Knoxville; a daughter, Denise Leavell, of Lebanon; other brothers, Billy, of Memphis, Charles, of Colorado Springs, Colo,, and Joseph, of San Diego, Calif.; another sister, Ruby Russell, of Taylor, S. C.; and six grandchildren.
