4-d-Donna Marie EASTES born Oct. 31, 1915 had influenza when a baby and as a result is retarded.  I remember her as a tiny red-cheeked, black-eyed sprite of a girl, petted and spoiled and dearly loved by the whole family.  The mother,  Carrie GIBBS EASTES was a small, smiling, woman with red hair and very blue eyes- and as I remember suffered from rheumatism- or what probably would now be called arthritis.  My brother and I used to love to play with these children and their cousins the BAKER children.

5- Julia Frances GIBBS- I remember her when her children were young.  A slim, quiet woman with dark hair, dark eyes and kind, gentle ways.  I wrote to different ones trying to get statistics on this family but with no sucess- so I will write what I remember.  Julia Frances GIBBS born July 1, 1885 at the old home near Carthage- died Dec. 15, 1956.  She married Lemue GIBBS and had a houseful of boys and girls who were enchanting playmates in those long-ago days.  I think I can remember all their names- I remember each child very well but I had trouble recalling the right name for each one!  Haskel, Baxter, Tom,  Raymond and J. C. BAKER were the boys and Christine and Annie Mai were the two pretty little girls.  I heard sometime ago that Christine had died when still very young.

7- Nancy Pryor GIBBS was the youngest of Martha Emmaline PETTY's and James Carroll GIBBS' children.  Again I have to admit failure in getting the history of this family.  Nancy was born April 15, 1890.  I used to hear my mother talk about what a beautiful girl she was.  I remember her saying that Nancy had the red hair so common in the PETTY family.  She died March 2, 1944 and is buried in Ridgewood Cem. at Carthage, Tenn.  She was married to Arthur Lee EVANS and I believe there was also a son. F- William Henderson PETTY born March 9, 1853, Smith Co., Tenn.-died March 12, 1922 in Ryan, Oklahoma.  He is buried there in East Cem.  He was married April 9, 1874 to Louisa WOOD born April 6, 1856 in Smith Co., Tenn., daughter of Green Berry WOOD and wife Caroline.  In 1898 Wm. Henderson PETTY moved his family to Texas and never again saw his Tenn. home or his father or brothers and sisters.  He spent the rest of his life in Texas and Ryan, Okla.  Louisa WOOD died April 5, 1932 in Ryan, Okla, and is buried beside her husband. Louisa WOOD PETTY had six sons- she had a twin sister named Loisa who had six daughters.  The family in Tenn. had lost track of "Hensi" and Louisa.  Dad heard from some source that his brother had died but that is all we knew.  After I became interested in the family history I got to wondering about my Uncle Henderson's family.   Dad had an old family group picture of the family, which they had sent to him shortly after they moved to Texas.  The picture was old and faded but I could make out the name of the photographer and the city- "Thomsons- Dublin, Texas."  Reasoning that a city large enough to support a photographer would likely have a newspaper- I sent off a letter addressed simply to "The Dublin Newspaper"-and sure enough there was one.  The paper kindly printed my letter and soon I had a letter from the oldest son-Thomas Andrew PETTY.  I had a delightful correspondence with him and one of his sister-in-laws.

1- Thomas Andrew PETTY was born May 19, 1875 at Chestnut Md., Tenn.- married 1909 in Texas to Agnes HARE born Nov. 22, 1878 in Denton, Texas daughter of William and Amanda HARE.  Thomas Andrew PETTY died July 3, 1958.  They had two children.
