Rest In Peace Daddy

Missing You, Dad

In loving memory of John Lee Woodard 3/31/1930--3/23/2001

I took my first breath, and you dad, were there.
You saw my first step, my first words we did share.
You pointed the way, as you led me through life.
You corrected my wrongs, and praised all my rights.
I then took a wife, and you dad were there.
My sons wear your name, to show you I care.
The source of my wisdom, was learning from you.
And five simple words; What would my dad do?
In a blink of an eye, the years rolled on by.
We lived and we loved, we laughed and we cried.
You knew it was close, to the end of your day,
Though you had more to do, and much more to say.
Your last words you did speak, though we were unaware.
You took your last steps, and dad, I was there.
I held onto your hand, you watched as I wept.
Our eyes said I love you, as you took your last breath.
Not a day goes by now, that I don't think of you,
And whisper the words, What would my dad do?
The day will soon come, when pain turns to joy.
When again you're my daddy, and I'm your little boy.
