JAMES CLARIDY WILLIAMS and MILLICENT SUTTON WILLIAMS
James was the son of Tobias & Jemima Claridy Williams*(see note). James was born 31 January, 1798 NC.
and married Millicent (Milly) Sutton b.23m April 1802.Ga., maried 1818. Milly was the daughter
of James and Alsy Sutton who married in 1792 after his first wife's death ca. 1791. Edmond Sutton ,
James S. Sutton, Dempsey Sutton and Nellie Sutton were Milly's siblings.
Both Tobias Williams and James Sutton were soldiers in the Revolutionary War and DAR's have
been claimed on both. James C. Williams died September 02, 1868 and Millicent died 1864 and
they are buried in the rock enclosure in the Williams Cemetery at Difficult, Tenn..
Seven of their children are buried with them.

James & Millicent had the following twelve children:
Anderson Williams b. 1-30-1819, Betsy Williams b. 12-30-1820, Mary Ann (Polly) Williams b.11-07-1822,
Frances Williams b.11-25-1824, Leighton F. Williams b.5-17-1827, Henderson Williams b. 10-03-1828,
James Henry Williams b. 11-19-1831, Haywood R. Williams b. 1-10-1834, Martha Williams b. 1-20-1836,
Eveline Williams b.7-04-1838, Bailey P. Williams b. 8-19-1840. and Newton C. Williams died young.

James Claridy/Clardy Williams had two more children from a second marriage to
Adeline L. West that took place 21 November 1865, Smith Co., Tennessee. Born
to this union was a son, Rheuben Williams, who died 7th day of October 1867,
a daughter, Edna Williams, who was an infant when James died 1st. day of
September 1868. This information taken from probate records here in stated.

James C. Williams died intestate about the 2nd day of Sep. 1868, leaving a
widow, Adeline L. Williams, and the following children, to wit,
ANDERSON WILLIAMS, BAYLIE L. WILLIAMS, JAMES H. WILLIAMS, POLLY ANN
who married ASA KEMP, FRANCES who married C.W. WEST, MARTHA E. who
married ISSAC D. WEST, EVALINE who married JAMES A. THOMAS, LEIGHTON
F. WILLIAMS, HAYWOOD WILLIAMS, Sr., an infant daughter EDNA WILLIAMS,
also the descendants of a daughter ELIZABETH who died before her father,
leaving as her only children, to wit, MARTHA E. who married UZY KEMP,
DAVID H. WITT, C.J. WITT, MINERVA  F. who married N.T. YEAMAN, VIRGINIA
J. who married JAMES L. KEMP, and SARAH E. WITT who is a minor, also a son
HENDERSON WILLIAMS who died before his father, leaving as his only children
L.J. WILLIAMS and HAYWOOD R. WILLIAMS, Jr.

*(note) Tobias (1746-1834) and Jemima Claridy Williams are credited with having at least eleven children.
Anderson Williams, Tom Williams, Gid Williams, Lem Williams, William (Bill) Williams, Elizabeth
(Betsy) Williams, Nancy Williams, Sooky Williams, Priscilla (Prissy) Williams, one son name not
known, and James Claridy Williams, the youngest.

It is said Tobias and Jemima Williams daughters married the following men: Nancy m. Elam
Russsell, "Sooky" m. a McClellan, Priscilla m. William Sneed and Elizabeth (Betsy) m.
William Parker (Jr.), believed brother of Elder Miles West's wife, Lucy Parker West.

Betsy and William Parker's grandchild, Martha Jane Parker is also the grandchild of Rebecca
Kemp Gregory and can be seen in the picture of Mary (Polly) Ann Gregory Parker Parker Grubbs.
