Laura was born August 2, 1880 and died October 2, 1972. She was the daughter of Wade and Missouri
Gregory Smith. John was reared in the Dickerson Hollow and Laura was reared less than one mile away
at the mouth of the Dickerson Hollow. They became the parents of seven children who lived to be adults.
They resided in the Pleasant Shade community on Little Peyton's Creek across from the Kittrell School
house and are buried in Sanderson's Cemetery. John and Laura were my grandparents.

As John prepared to leave home to meet Laura for their wedding, he noticed that his shoes
needed to be blackened so he rubbed soot from the stove on them.

Annie Audie Dickerson
Pictured is Annie Audie Dickerson (my aunt) in about 1932. She was the youngest daughter of John and
Laura Smith Dickerson. Audie was born March 3, 1912 and died January 4, 1935. She was a healthy child
until the age of about three or four years at which time she contracted chicken pox and was never well
after that time. She was never married. Audie was better looking than most Dickersons (me excepted).
