WALKER, Clara Johnson  (1872 - 1953)

Mrs. J.L. Walker Dies Of Illness
       Mrs. Clara Johnson Walker, widow of J.L. (Fate) Walker, widely known Warren county farmer, died at the family home in the fourth district Friday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock. She had been ill for about ten days and in failing health for some time. Funeral rites were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the chapel of High Funeral Home. Allen Phy, minister of Central Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in Mt View cemetery.  Mrs. Walker, native of Van Buren county, was born December 29, 1872.  Her parents were Perry Johnson and Samatha Passons Johnson, pioneer Van Buren residents. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. A.C. Witt of Plainview, and a sister, Mrs. Randa Crabtree, Gallatin. High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

WALLACE, Ollie Belle  (1910 - 1999)
                 Ollie Belle Wallace, 89, of Spencer passed away Monday, September 20, 1999.   Wallace was a homemaker. She was born of May 4, 1910 in Van Buren County, the daughter of Joe W. Miller and Ada Sparkman Miller.  Services were Wednesday, September 22, 1999 at Thurman Funeral Home with burial in Gravel Hill. Brother Jerry Barnwell and Howard Thomason officiated.  She was preceded in death by her husband, William Martin Wallace.  Survivors include two sons, Billy Wallace of Spencer; Lynn Wallace of Nashville; a sister, Lena Mae Brock of Sparta; a brother, Jim Miller of Sparta; and two grandchildren, Sherri Wallace and Stacie Wallace.  Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

WALLING, Everett L.  (1941- 2002)

Everett L. Walling 1941-2002
Easthampton - Everett L. "Wilie" Walling, 60, of Easthampton, died Sunday at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton.  He was born in Spencer, TN, educated there, and had lived in this area for the past 39 years.  He was a 37-year employee of the Berkshire Electric Cable Co. of Leeds.  He is survived by three daughters, Cherie Hager of Holyoke, Rebecca J. Twine of Dudley, and Chrissie L. Pedolsky of South Hadley; three brothers, Henry Earl Walling, Roy L. Walling and Harold Dean Walling of TN; two sisters, Made Christian and Gaynell Meeks of TN; four grandchildren, Toni Hager, Brian Hager, Jordan Pedolzky, and Jacob Fournier; his companion, Rosemarie P. McCormick of Easthampton.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning a 11 a.m. in the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Forestdale Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.  Donations may be made to the Blessed Sacrament School Library Fund, 23 Westfield Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040.

WATSON, Alice Louise  (circa 1914-1999)
              Spencer resident and Van Buren County native Alice Louise Watson, 85, died Nov. 14 at River Park Hospital after an 18-month illness.  A homemaker and a member of the Church of God, she was the daughter of Jess and Nellie Hillis McGuire and was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Watson in 1981.  She is survived by son, Larry Watson of Spencer; grandchildren, Kenneth Watson and Lisa Ann Watson, both of Spencer; sister, Mattie Warren of Stevenson, Ala.; and brother, Cleve McGuire of McMinnville.  Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at High’s Chapel with Albert Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Long Cemetery in Van Buren County. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until time of service today at High’s.  High Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WEBB, Thelma Lucille England  (1916-2001)
               Thelma Lucille England Webb, 84, of Sparta passed away Saturday, June 30, 2001.  Webb was born July 11, 1916, in White County, the daughter of Elize (Lige) and Bell  Rozzell England. She was a retired factory worker.  Services were Tuesday, July 3, 2001, in Hunter Funeral Home with burial in New Bon Air  Cemetery. Dan Horton officiated.  Webb was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ethel and Beula; and four  brothers, Wheeler, William, Charlie, and Woodroe.  Survivors include her son, William M. (Paye) Webb of McMinnville; sister, Maggie Johnson  of AL; granddaughter, Connie Webb of Sparta;  grandson, Keith Webb of IL; two  great-granddaughters, Robynn Quals Nash of Sparta; Jessica Hope Webb of IL; and  great-great-grandson, Dalton Wade Nash of Sparta.  Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

WELCH, Woodrow Wilson  (1918-2001)
                 Woodrow Wilson Welch, 83, of Sparta passed away Thursday, June 28, 2001.  Welch was born June 13, 1918, in White County, the son of Ella Caroline Jacobs Welch.  He served in the Army during World War II.  Services were Saturday, June 30, 2001, in the Thurman Funeral Home Chapel with burial  in Eastland Cemetery. Brother Jack Chadwell officiated.  Welch was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Welch.  Survivors include his wife, Elma Welch of Sparta; four daughters, Kay Beavers of CA; Gail  Welch of Sparta; Rhonda Cooley of Sparta; Janice Kirby of Sparta; son, Robert C. Welch of  Semour; brother, Billy Welch of Crossville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

WHITE, Thelma Lorene Gilreath  (circa 1925-2000)
             Thelma Lorene Gilreath White, 75, of Sparta passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2000. Graveside services were Friday, November 10, 2000, in Carter Cemetery. Reverend Fate  Wilson officiated. White was preceded in death by son, Johnny White, sister, Beatrice Grigsby; and three  brothers, Gilreath; Raymond Gilreath, and Cullum Gilreath. Survivors include four daughters, Betty Speichs of Rockwood; Dean Blane of Oliver  Springs; Belinda Powers of Pikeville; Mary Powers of Pikeville; grandson, Corey White of Quebeck;  along with eight other grandchildren; three sisters, Mae Conant of Sparta; Mary Jones of Sparta;  Rosa Ward of McMinnville; seven brothers, Paul Gilreath of Sparta; Kenneth Gilreath of Sparta;  William Gilreath of Cookeville; Porter Gilreath of Crossville; Bobby Gilreath of Crossville; George  Gilreath of Lafayette; and Troy Gilreath of Hillsboro. Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

WILCHER, Zora Mae  (circa 1905 - 1970)
                     Mrs. Zora Mae Wilcher, 65-year-old resident of the Shady Rest community, died unexpectedly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frankie Wright, Route 4, McMinnville, at 7 p.m. Friday.  A native of Van Buren County, she was first married to the late Lester Montandon and later to Lester Wilcher, who survives.  Mrs. Wilcher was a member of the Church of God and a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Tezie Ann Johnson Bryant.  Besides  her husband and Mrs. Wright, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Jackquline Templeton, McMinnville; two sons, Lester Montandon, Elkhart, Ind., and G. L. Wilcher, McMinnville; five sisters, Mrs. Lorene Williamson, McMinnville; Mrs. R.J. Grissom, Spencer; Mrs. Mattie Dodson, Doyle; Mrs. Ora Ramsey, Morrison, and Mrs. William Sparkman, Birmingham, Ala., 12 grandchildren and one great- grandchild.  Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. David Lambert at Locust Street Church of God at 4 p.m. Sunday,  burial following in Mt. View cemetery.  High's Inc., was in charge of arrangements.

WILSON, Mary F.  (circa 1947-2001)
              Mary F. Wilson, 54, of Sparta passed away Monday, June 18, 2001.  Wilson was born September 15, 1946, in White County, the daughter of Bill Sparks and Edith Davis Sparks. She worked in assembly for Mallory Timers.  Services were Tuesday, June 19, 2001, in the Thurman Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Frasier Chapel. Brother David Saver and Brother Ron Allen officiated.  Wilson was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Norvan Sparks.  Survivors include her husband, James Wilson of Sparta; daughters, Sherry Simmons Davidson and husband Steve of Sparta; son, James Richard Simmons and wife Rebecca of Cookeville; sister, Virginia Gribble of Sparta; brothers, Ray Sparks of Sparta; Orvin Sparks of Sparta; Clinton Sparks of Sparta; Glenn Sparks of Sparta; Lynn Sparks of Sparta; Carl Sparks of Sparta; Robert Sparks of Sparta; two granddaughters, Allie Simmons of Cookeville; and Lacey Davidson of Sparta.  Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

WOODLEE, Lou Visa  (1868 - 1953)

Mrs. Woodlee, 84, Dies At Spencer
              Funeral rites for Mrs. Lou Visa Woodlee, widow of D.W. Woodlee, were conducted Tuesday morning at the chapel of High Funeral Home.  Newton Gribble, Spencer Church of Christ minister, officiated and burial was in Armstrong cemetery.  Mrs. Woodlee, member of a pioneer Warren county family, died at her home in Spencer Sunday, following an illness of three weeks. She was 84. A native of Warren county, Mrs. Woodlee was born September 22, 1868.  Her parents were Isaac Barnes and Susan Hill Barnes and she was married to Mr. Woodlee May  10, 1892. He died five years ago. Mrs. Woodlee was a member of the Churh of Christ.  Surviving are two sons, Thomas B. Woodlee, Spencer and D.C. Woodlee, Chattanooga; a daughter, Mrs. R.L. Walker, Union S.C.; one brother, Bryce Barnes, Austin, Tex.; a half-brother, Cecil Barnes, and a half-sister, Mrs. Emma Martin, both of McMinnville. Also 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grand- children. High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
