Cousin Lide:
    I send, by this mail, a newspaper with an article I wrote on 
Gen. Gaines.  Several weeks ago I wrote you a letter which called for a 
response.  In it I spoke of the magazine article Mr. Ownes, of Ala. was 
preparing on the Gaines genealogy and I asked you if you had or could get me 
for this article the use of the old family bible of your great-grand-father.  
As my letter called for an answer I have supposed you failed to receive it.

P.S. I asked in my letter that if you had or could get the bible to send it to 
me by Express, C.O.D., and I would copy the entries of births & deaths & 
immediately return it to you.
