J. McKinney Phipps, Rotherwood, Tennessee ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rotherwood, Tenn. 6-30/.95 My dear Logan: For sometime, we have been hearing that you would come to us this Summer, but so far we have seen nothing of you, and I fear your Mother is afraid that we will not take good care of you. You can assure her that we want you, and that we will take the same care of you that we do of our own boys, and say to her, that none of ours have been drowned, or hurt by horses, or received any serious hurts of any kind. So persuade your Father and Mother to let you come and I believe you will go back to them a stronger, healthier boy. Charlie Nice will be with us for a while too, so you boys can have a real good time. We will do all we can to make it pleasant for you. Your Cousin Sam King goes up to Bristol every week and will meet you any day there, that you say, so there need be no uneasiness on that score. All are very well and send love to all of you. Aff. Y'r uncle McK. Say to your Mother that your Cousin Annie re'd the package yesterday, and is delighted with her taste & selection. We would be delighted to have your Father and Mother visit us this summer; the change would do them good: urge them them to come down. Don't fail to come.
