2. HENRY HICKS3 MCGEE (THOMAS2, ADAM1)6 was born April 26, 1826 in Stewart County, Tennessee7, and died September 05, 1918 in Stewart County, Tennessee - District 107. He married DELILAH (DELILA/DELLIA) VICKERS June 21, 1849 in Stewart County, Tennessee8, daughter of MICHAEL VICKERS and KASIAH BARNES.
Notes for HENRY HICKS MCGEE: Henry H. McGee's education was very limited. At the age of twenty-one, he began to work for himself by leasing land and chopping wood, then investing what he had made into land until he had acquired 1000 acres on Standing Rock. When the Civil War broke out, he volunteered in Company H, Fiftieth Tennessee Infantry CSA. After being captured at Ft. Donnelson, he was imprisoned at Chicago and exchanged at Vicksburg. He then re-entered the service. When the twelve months for which he enlisted expired, he left for home. After his marriage, he moved to his home on Standing Rock, farmed his land, ran a grist mill and a blacksmith shop. He and his wife had nine children.

Notes for WILLIAM ELDRIDGE "BILLY RED" MCGEE:
William Eldridge "Billy Red" McGee had very little formal education. When he was first married, he and his wife lived in Henry County at Meddlin Place, but moved back to Stewart County for health reasons and bought his farm from Will Scarborough. This farm had 386 acres of farming land and timber. He grew tobacco, corn, cotton and grew vegetables to feed his family. He had a blacksmith shop and shod horses and mules for neighbors and friends and repaired wagons. He made sorghum molasses and had a nice grist mill to grind corn into meal. He sawed trees for lumber and ties. He also made coffins and his wife did the finishing touches. He raised cattle, hogs, goats and sheep. His wife made wool thread and she knit socks, stockings, made carpets, wool blankets and skirts and dyed them the colors they wished. Mr. McGee was a magistrate for years. The family attended the Baptist Church and voted the Democratic Ticket.
