Pleasant Shade School 1929-1930
The old Pleasant Shade School building which was located on the site of the present school building.
This building was at least the second school building at Pleasant Shade and was located on Highway 80
about one quarter mile north of the junction of Little Creek Road and Highway 80. The earlier school
building was located in the southeast intersection of old Highway 80 and Sloan Branch Road.

Go to the Pleasant Shade School picture of 1916.

The above pictured building was erected probably in the early 1920’s and was in use until the 1960’s at
which time it was razed and the present building erected. All eight grades were taught by four teachers in
this building and it had an auditorium and lunch room.

O.C. (Oval) Sloan, whose name appears on the bottom of the picture, was once a teacher here and
later was part owner and operator of the Sloan Brothers Store (now gone) in Pleasant Shade.
