This is the "old" Hickman School House that was located between Sykes and Hickman in Smith County, Tennessee.
During the summer, when the well at the school was low, water for the school was brought in buckets from the
spring on the Sam Thomas (later, Jimmy Thomas) farm. The Tennessee Central Railroad tracks ran around both
playgrounds. Several years after a "new" Hickman School House was built closer to Hickman, "The Happy Day
Soap Powder Factory" briefly occupied the building. After selling stock in the soap factory to the people of
Hickman and the surrounding area, and producing a few samples, the promoter left town, not to be heard from
again. The building was torn down many years ago.

Number 5, Marshall Agee, in the little knee pants, is my dad when he was in the first grade, and number 34,
Elmer Agee is his brother.
