Elbow School Circa 1920
The Elbow School was located on the Ash Hopper Hollow Road which turned off the Carthage
to Hoggtown Highway at a big curve called Devil's Elbow. The name was shortened to call it the
Elbow School. The school was operated for many years before it was closed about 1950 when
most of the small schools in Smith County consolidated into the larger schools.
