Wilkerson, Estes Buford (Sport) 1911 – 1988

Funeral services for E.B. (Sport) Wilkerson were conducted Friday afternoon, June 17th, from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Burial in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens. Elder Harold Dean Linville officiated at the 1:00 p.m. services. Mr. Wilkerson, age 76, of the Turkey Creek Community died Wednesday evening, June 15th, at the Smith County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

On June January 18th, 1933, Mr. Wilkerson was United in marriage to the Former Willia Mai Craighead, who survives. He was born in Smith County, the Son of the late Pete and Mollie Kemp Wilkerson and Worker for the Former Bordon Food Company for 23 years. After his retirement from Bordon, he worked at the Welch Plant in Gordonsville for another 12 years before his retirement. He was a long-Time member of the Defeated Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Mollie Wilkerson Richardson of Turkey Creek; a Son, Garry Wilkerson of Hendersonville; two sisters, Etta Cothorn of Lebanon, and Ella Mai Kemp of Nashville; and there are 4 surviving grandchildren. Sanderson Funeral Home of Carthage, Directors.
