Funeral services for Mrs. Octavia Lankford, 85, who
died August 9 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Best, in
Mrs. Lankford died following a long illness.
She was the widow of W.A. Lankford. Her first
husband, Tom McCall, died about 40 years ago. She was a member of the Hickory
Grove Methodist church, and had spent most of her life in the Kempville
community of
Survivors are a son, Hugh McCall, of Defeated; two
daughters, Mrs. Nellie Best,

the great-granddaughter of Octavia Searcy McCall Lankford.
- Arris Thomas [Tom] McCall died of lip cancer July 20, 1911.
- Their son, Selton Clarence McCall, was killed in a train/truck accident June
30, 1934.
- W.A. was William Addison Lankford son of Henry Lankford & grandson of
Jesse &
Tabitha Kemp Lankford.
- Mrs. Nellie Ethel Best was first married to Carcie Allen Kemp; they
ultimately divorced.
- Octavia Lankford was the daughter of James S. & Martha Frances Jones
Searcy/Sircy.
