Mrs. Octavia Lankford  


     Funeral services for Mrs. Octavia Lankford, 85, who died August 9 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Best, in Nashville, were conducted August 11 at the Hickory Grove Methodist Church by the Rev. Harold Ray and the Rev. L.C. Troutt.
     Mrs. Lankford died following a long illness.
     She was the widow of W.A. Lankford. Her first husband, Tom McCall, died about 40 years ago. She was a member of the Hickory Grove Methodist church, and had spent most of her life in the Kempville community of Smith County.
     Survivors are a son, Hugh McCall, of Defeated; two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Best, Nashville, and Mrs. Mack Holleman, Gallatin; 17 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

- Arris Thomas [Tom] McCall died of lip cancer July 20, 1911.
- Their son, Selton Clarence McCall, was killed in a train/truck accident June 30, 1934.
- W.A. was William Addison Lankford son of Henry Lankford & grandson of

Jesse & Tabitha Kemp Lankford.
- Mrs. Nellie Ethel Best was first married to Carcie Allen Kemp; they ultimately divorced.
- Octavia Lankford was the daughter of James S. & Martha Frances Jones Searcy/Sircy.
