Kemp, Mary Ellen (Minnie) Wrye 1921 – 2001

Mrs. Mary Ellen Wrye Kemp, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at the University Medical Center in Lebanon at the age of 79. Born April 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Zearl Booker and Willie Ester Shaffer Wrye. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and was a Store clerk for many years at Ben Franklin and Fred's. She lived in Smith County for several years with her late husband, Roy Hudson Kemp, who died in 1954.

She is survived by four children, Issac (Frances) Kemp of Springfield, Everett (Joyce) Kemp of Lebanon, Sammy Kemp of Mt. Juliet, Ann Novenairo of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Emma Tomlinson of-Hartsville, Mable Mofield of Lebanon; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Thursday, March 22, 2001, at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home in Lebanon with Rev. Michael Christian officiating. Interment followed in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens in Smith County. The Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home of Lebanon, directors.
