Child Burns to Death

A sad and fatal accident occurred at the home of Esq. and Mrs. Simon Highers at Dixon Springs last Saturday afternoon when the clothing of their little seven-year-old daughter, Ellen Wilson, caught fire from an open grate and burned the child so severely that she only lived about twelve hours after the accident occurred.  There were only two members of the family in the room with the child at the time her clothing caught, Mrs. Highers who was confined to her bed on account of illness, and a little son nine years old. The little girl ran out into the yard with her clothing in flames which were finally extinguished by her mother and little brother. The remains of the little girl were laid to rest in the Dixon Springs cemetery.  Mr. and Mrs. Highers have the sympathy of the entire community.
