Craighead, Lossie B 1910-1999

Mr. Lossie B. Craighead, age 90 and a longtime resident and Retired Farmer of the Sycamore Valley Community in Macon County, was pronounced dead on arrival at 9.15 a.m. Thursday morning, July 15, 1999 at the Cumberland River Hospital North in Celina. He became gravely ill earlier at the Jackson County Health Care Center where he was a resident. Services were conducted Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and Burial followed in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens. Eld. Jeff Patterson, Pastor of the Friendship Primitive Baptist Church at Defeated Creek where Mr. Craighead attended, officiated at the services.

Mr. Craighead was born and reared in the Defeated Creek Community, the Son of the late Walter Lawson and Callie Kemp Craighead. His wife of sixty eight years, the Former Bertha Mai Chambers, preceded him in death on March 13, 1999. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-Law, Paul and Oneita Craighead of Huntsville, Alabama, Cortis and Elaine Craighead of Gainesboro, sister, Willie Mai Wilkerson of South Carthage; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
