Craighead, Larkin  1911-1989

 

 

Mr. Larkin Craighead, a Retired resident of the Friendship Hollow Community at Defeated Creek, died suddenly Wednesday morning, February 15, 1989, after suffering an apparent heart attack at his Home. Eld. Jeff Patterson, Minister of the Friendship Primitive Baptist Church where Mr. Craighead was a member, officiated at the 1:00 p.m. services which were conducted Friday afternoon, February 17, 1989, from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial was in Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.

 

Mr. Craighead was retired from the DuPont Company with thirty-one years service. Before retiring some ten years ago and moving back to his native Defeated Creek, he and his wife, the Former Margie Smith, to whom he had been married since December 23, 1933, had resided in Old Hickory for 42 years. Mr. Craighead was born in Smith County on March 7, 1911,

 

Son of the late Walter and Callie Kemp Craighead. Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Jerry Craighead of Nashville, John Craighead of Old Hickory, Michael Craighead of Defeated Creek; three sisters, Lou Ova Lankford of Tanglewood, Willie Mai Wilkerson of Turkey Creek, Georgia Carter of Difficult; twin brother, Overton Craighead of Defeated Creek; another brother, Lossie B. Craighead of Sycamore Valley; five grandchildren, Scott Craighead, Josh Craighead, Suzanne Craighead, Chad Adcock,  and Brandon Adcock all of Old Hickory.
