McMinnville resident and Smith County native Geraldine Chaffin, 88, died
Aug. 3 at Life Care Center in Sparta. A homemaker, longtime volunteer with
River Park Hospital [McMinnville, Warren Co., TN] and a member of Northside
Baptist Church [McMinnville, Warren Co., TN] , she was the daughter of the
late Jimmie and Margaret Henry Gillespie; and was preceded in death by
husband, H.C. Chaffin; daughter, Linda Whaley; sisters, Henrietta Burgess
and Lucille McKinney; and brothers, Lum, Tad, Vernice and J.D. Gillespie.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Edna Chaffin of Sparta;
son-in-law, Pink Whaley of McMinnville; several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. today at McMinnville
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Braxton Hunter officiating. Burial will follow
at Gardens of Memory [Smartt Station, Warren Co., TN]. Visitation will be
held from 8 a.m. until time of service today at McMinnville Funeral Home.
