IRENE SIRCY CARTER

 

Saturday services for Mrs. Irene Sircy Carter were conducted from the Hibbett and Hailey Funeral Home in Donelson by Eld. Clay Grizzle and Eld. Hilman Duncan.  Burial followed the 11:00 a.m. services in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Carter died Wednesday, December 15, 1999 at the N.H.C. in Hendersonville.

Born in the Difficult Community, she was the daughter of the late Jasper and Nettie Kemp Sircy. Mrs. Carter was the widow of the late Oplis Carter and was also preceded in death on August 5, 1998 by a daughter, Katherine Brown of Old Hickory. Mrs. Carter, a Homemaker, was a member of the Gateway Baptist Church in Donelson.

Surviving is her daughter and Son-in-Law, Evelyn and Richard Ulmer of Hendersonville; three sisters, Goldna Clay of Carthage, Estelene Sloan of Pleasant Shade, Mildred Boze Stanley of Old Hickory; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.  This notice provided as a courtesy to the Carter Family. Irene – December 15, 1999.  Preceded in death by husband Oplis Lee Carter; daughter Katherine Brown, Old Hickory; parents, Jasper Daniel Sircy and Nettie Kemp Sircy, Smith County.  Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn (Richard) Ulmer, Hendersonville; grandchildren, Janet (David) Davis, Winchester, Jeffery (Kay) Ulmer, Mt. Juliet, Tina Brown, Spencer; 5 great grandchildren; sisters, Estelene Sloan, Goldna Clay, Mildred Boze Stanley.  Mrs. Carter is at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home, where services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by Bro Clay Grizzle and Bro. Hilman Duncan.  Family will receive friends Friday from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.  Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.  Interment Defeated Memorial Gardens, Smith County.
