Carter, Georgia Craighead 1919-1995

 

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia Craighead Carter of Hickory Hills Apartments in South Carthage were conducted Saturday afternoon, July 1, 1995, from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with Burial in the Dixon Springs Cemetery.  Eld. Guthrie Thompson officiated at the 3:00 p.m. services.

 

Mrs. Carter, a longtime resident of Carver Hollow Lane in the Cartwright Community, died at 3:20 a.m. Friday morning, June 30, at the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville of heart failure at the age of 76. Born in Defeated Creek, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Callie Kemp Craighead.  On December 25, 1940, she was married to Leonard Carter, who survives.  for many years she and her husband Owned & Operated the Leonard Carter Grocery in the Riddleton Community before retirement.  Mrs. Carter was a member of the Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church.

 

Surviving in addition to her husband is one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Sarah) Williams of the Cartwright Community; two granddaughters, Stefanie Frantz of Dickson and Angela Daughtry of Gallatin; two sisters, Lou Ova Lankford of Tanglewood and Willie Mai Wilkerson of South Carthage; one brother, Lossie B. Craighead of Gainesboro; three great-grandchildren.  Sanderson Funeral Home of Carthage, Directors.
