Canter, Hetty Wood  1885 - 1922

Sister Hettie Wood Canter, daughter of Brother Wade and Sister Maggie Wood, was born Jan. 30 1885.  She was married to Brother Levi Canter Sept. 23, 1900.  To them were born 12 children, ten of them are living, most of them girls.  She professed religion in 1916 at home and lived a noble Christian till death.  The night she died she called all her children to her and one by one asked them to meet her in heaven.  She talked strong and good just a few minutes before she died.  She said she was perfectly at herself and knew that she was going to die in a few minutes.  She called her husband to her and hugged and kissed him before she died and talked so pretty to him.  She was one of the most noble women, good and kind always to everybody.  All who knew her loved her.  She died August 6, 1922.  She leaves a husband, 10 children, a father and mother, some sisters, a brother and a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. But our loss is her eternal gain.  It is so lonesome without wife and mother.  Brother Canter is a poor man but he and his wife had as happy home as anybody ever had.  Brother Canter, look to the good Lord.  He will help you.  He is a present help in time of trouble.  Children, remember your good mother and follow her good examples.  In heaven today she is resting from her labors, while we toil here and are surrounded by all kinds of trouble but all will be well after while.
