'MRS. NANCY WEBB ALLISON DIES AT AGE OF 82

 Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Webb Allison, 82, who died at her home Oct. 4, were conducted last week at the Grant Baptist church by the pastor, the Rev. Phocian Gibbs.  Burial was in the New Middleton cemetery.

 Mrs. Allison was the wife of the late James Allison, to whom she was married in 1877.  She had been a member of the Grant Baptist church since girlhood and was one of its most devoted members.

 She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. S. S. Dawson, Lebanon; Mrs. Ed Tyree, Mrs. Leslie Dawson, New Middleton Rte. 1, and Mrs. H. C. Kent of Watertown; two sons, Sam and Ray (should be Roy) Allison, New Middleton; and a sister Mrs. C. S. Denny, of Leaville.'

 

Information from Nancy Webb's Memorial Service states that funeral was officiated by 'Rev. Phocian Gibbs'.  Funeral was held at 'Baptist Church at Grant, TN on October 5, 1943 at 1:00 P.M'.  Place of internment was 'Macadonia Cemetery, New Middleton, Smith Co., TN at 3:00 P.M. on October 5, 1943'.  Music was "Shall We Gather at the River" and "Nearer My God to Thee".  Pallbearers were 'Jack Dawson, Burnice Allison, Bill Allison, Jim Allison, Henry Tyree, A.C. Allison, and Johnie Roy Allison'(grandsons).  Flower girls were 'Fay Kent, Helen Vantrease, Minnie Tyree and 'Lena' ' (which was Lela Pearl Rowland Skelton) (Fay & Minnie are granddaughters--Helen & Lela are great-granddaughters).

Smith County History Book states she was born 10-30-1862.  Her tombstone states 10-30-1862. but her Memorial Record (in the possession of Wanda Rowland Pulliam) states 'Mrs. Nancy Webb Allison born October 30, 1860 in Smith County, Tennessee entered into rest October 4, 1943 at Wilson County, Tennessee age 82 years, 11 months, and 4 days'.  It also states father as John Webb and mother as Mary Ann Paty.
