men by these presents that I Joseph Payne of Smith County and State of
Tennessee for the natural love and affection which I bear towards my son
William Payne do by this presents give and bequeath unto my said son William
his heirs and asigns forever a certain negro boy or man slave named Ben about
nineteen years of age and now in my possession, which said negro I will warrant and defend unto the said William
Payne his heirs and asigns forever against the lawful claim or claims of all
and every person whatsoever in
