Deed Book B, Pgs. 421-422 - 12 November 1782

A tract of land lying in the County of New Hope Creek

 

This indenture made this twelfth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty two between John Gregory of the County of Chatham and State of North Carolina of the one part and Gideon Goodwin of the said county of the other part witnesseth that the said John Gregory for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds Specie to him in hand paid the receipt hereof he the said John Gregory doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said Gideon Goodwin his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said County on New Hope Creek beginning at a pine joining Morgans line then running 240 ½  poles to the center of three pines on Goodwins line then west along his line 83 poles to a pine then north 240 ½  poles along his line to an ash along Morgans line east 83 poles to the first motion containing one hundred and twenty five acres of land with the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders unto and services thereof also all the estate right title interest claim and demand which the said John Gregory his heirs and assigns of in and to the said tract or parcel of land and premises hath of in and to any part or parcel thereof to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and premises with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining unto the said Gideon Goodwin his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said Gideon Goodwin his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Gregory his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Gregory for himself doth covenant with the said Gideon Goodwin and his heirs by these presents that the said John Gregory the said tract or parcel of land and premises hereby bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof against him and his heirs to the said Gideon Goodwin his heirs and assigns shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this day and year first above written.
