To All To Whom These Presents Shall Come,
Greeting: KNOW YE, that in
consideration of an entry made in the Office of the Entry-Taker of Smith County
pursuant to an act of the General Assembly of said state passed on the 9th
day of January 1830 and entered on the 26th day of August 1845 by
No. ____.
There is granted by the said State of Tennessee, unto
Jeremiah Gregory a certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing sixty six and
144 poles by survey bearing date the 9th day of September 1846 lying
in said county on the Nickojack Branch of Peytons Creek and bounded as follows
to wit Beginning on an ash and sugar tree running thence South crossing said
branch at 76 poles in all 80 poles to a stake in Thomas Gregorys line thence
West with said line crossing a branch at 76 poles in all 120 poles to a beech
thence North crossing the branch at 22 poles in all 29 poles to a beech thence
East 23 ½ poles to a stake thence North 33 poles to a black oak on a high hill
thence East 96 ½ poles to the beginning.
With the hereditaments and appurtenances. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel
of land with its appurtenances to the said Jeremiah Gregory and his heirs
forever. In witness whereof, Neil S.
Brown Governor of the State of Tennessee, hath hereunto set his hand and caused
the Great Seal of the state to be affixed, at Nashville, on the 18th
October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven and
of the Independence of the United States the seventy second.
