MRS. FINN WRITES

          R 6 , Franklin, Ky.,

          May 28, 1955.

Dear Bro. Gregory:

A friend told me that she saw in the Macon County Times an article you had printed from a woman in Texas, who was trying to find some of her relatives.  If she was Maude or Pernie Gray, Henry Gray’s daughter, then I am her first cousin.  I am Willie Gray’s daughter.  He and Henry Gray were brothers.  My mother was Sarah Ellen Smith, Rev. William Henry Smith’s daughter.  I am now Mrs. Jack Finn.  I belong to Hillsdale Baptist church, in Simpson County, Ky.  If you know this woman’s address, please send it to me or send her mine.

A sister in the Lord,

Mrs. Jack Finn.

(Editor’s note.  We have misplaced the name and address of the party referred to above.  So we are publishing Mrs. Finn’s letter in the hope that the Texas relative of Mrs. Finn may get her letter and write to Mrs. Finn).

MRS. MARIA KEMP

DIES AT RIPE OLD AGE

Mrs. Maria Donoho Kemp, aged 90 years and seven months, died at her home at Difficult on May 26th, death being attributed to pneumonia.  She was the widow of the late Lee Kemp, who died 13 years ago.  She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Francis Flatt, who resided with her mother; three grandchildren, and the same number of great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on May 28th by Elders F. W. Lambert and Arnett G. Gregory, from Defeated Creek Baptist church, of which she had long been an active member.  Burial followed in the Taylor Payne Cemetery.  She was the daughter of Wade Donoho, the son of William Donoho and his wife, Millie Davis Donoho.  Mrs Kemp had the following sisters, all of whom preceded her in death:  Alice, married a Thomas; Ruthie, married a Lamberson; Althie, married a Jenkins; and Mahala, of whom we know nothing more.  Mrs. Kemp was a highly esteemed lady and numbered her friends by her acquaintances.  Sanderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
