UNNAMED BLACK CEMETERY

An unnamed cemetery is indicated on the eastern edge of the Bath Springs quadrangle, south of Whiteoak Creek near its mouth, and just west of Price Branch. Access is shown via a footpath. This cemetery site was visited March 11, 1989. The path has been widen into a jeep or wagon road, perhaps partially obliterating this cemetery. Only about four fieldstones could be found. No names or dates were indicated on these.

          J. Erving Riley and Ermadine Riley visited this site and report their findings in Wayne County, Tennessee Cemetery and Death Records. They report that "this was the site of a black cemetery and that cemetery was near a black church. The church is gone and there is little evidence of the cemetery other than depressions in the ground; there are no markers or fieldstones marking any of the graves."
