SUTTON CEMETERY

Sutton Cemetery, April 1999

The Sutton Cemetery is near the middle of the Marsh Creek Valley. A sign where the access drive meets the main road through the valley reads "Sutton Cemetery 1826 to Infinity." This is a well-maintained cemetery. The cemetery is in two parts. The main section is nearly full. In recent years burials have been made in a new section off the southwest corner of the original cemetery. However, burials have continued along the edges of the original section. Many graves in the center of the cemetery are unmarked, and more than half the total burials in the cemetery are unmarked. Two points of interest are a fenced area with Dickson family graves and stone tomb for a Crain family couple. Leo and David Donahue recorded this cemetery Sutton Cemetery December 26, 1988. David Donahue updated it April 16, 1999 and April 2002 and checked and updated it August 31, 2004.
