NIX CEMETERY

Nix Cemetery, February 2001

 

            Nix Cemetery is a well maintained cemetery located in the Roan Creek Valley of Perry County, Tennessee. It is somewhat difficult to estimate the age of the cemetery and number of burials because any fieldstones once present have been removed. There is evidence of burials in much of the open area in the center of the cemetery. There is one grave house with no indication of who is buried there.

            David Donahue recorded Nix Cemetery February 17, 2001 and checked and updated it September 22, 2004. Mary (Stewart) Bowen and Melissa (Snyder) Bowen recorded Nix Cemetery in the early 1990s. Their record appears in Mary Bowen's Perry County, Tennessee Cemetery Records (Vol. I). This earlier record is referred to as Bowen in the notes below.
