GILMER CEMETERY

Gilmer Cemetery lies on a terrace overlooking the Buffalo River Valley. The access drive is about 100 yards west of the intersection of Mossy Springs Road and Russell Creek Road. The fenced cemetery is well maintained. There are only one or two unmarked graves, though the four homemade Bates markers are now mostly unreadable.

David Donahue recorded Gilmer Cemetery April 1, 2001 and checked and updated it September 23, 2004. Mary (Stewart) Bowen and Melissa (Snyder) Bowen recorded the cemetery in the early 1990s. Their record appears in Mary Bowen's Perry County, Tennessee Cemetery Records (Vol. I). This earlier record is referred to as Bowen in the notes below.
