FLUTY CEMETERY. This cemetery was visited by David Donahue. on December 26, 1988 and recorded as follows; "This is a small family cemetery on Fluty Branch on the eastern edge of the Pope quadrangle. It sits in the middle of a cow pasture. It is not maintained per se, but there is a very strong, well maintained fence around it to keep the cattle out. There are three above-ground burial cairns here, one for an adult and two for children. They are not as well constructed as similar structures elsewhere. The stones seem rougher and are held together by cement. It is impossible to say whether they were constructed this way or the cement was used as part of a later "restoration."

FLUTY, E.J.M. 6 August 1865-30 April 1944

The small cairns may be children of John Fluty)

FLUTY, N.A. 12 September 1832(?)-27 January 1910 "Wife of John Fluty"

In the 1850 Perry County census, John Fluty was listed as age 50 in a single person household. In 1870 census, Nancy Fluty is listed as head of household, age 35, with the following children: Ebridge C. 16, Etheridge A. 12 Ervin W. 10, and Eason M. 5.
(The age listed as 50 for John is probably an error and should read 30)

OBITUARY:
On February 18th at 1:45 o'clock p.m. the death angel visited the home of Mrs. Bettie Kittrell and claimed her son, Joe Nichols. He was born April 15, 1892 and was 20 years, 10 month, and three days old. It is so sad to give him up. He was a good boy and was loved by everybody. He was sick of pneumonia just six days. He knew he would never get well. He said at the first of his illness if he was only prepared he wouldn't care for dying for there was nothing in this world for him: but, mother, what a great consolation, he said in his last hours he was ready to go, his hands were clean, the way was all clear, all was well with him. He wanted to lay his head on his mother's arm, and would rub his mother's face when he felt the pneumonia pain for the first time and said with great tenderness and earnestness, "I have pneumonia and this is the last of me." The doctor didn't want him to talk, but he said he had only a few days to stay here, and he was going to talk to his friends. Just before he died he sang a song "In the Land Beyond the Blue". When his mother saw he was dying and turned to leave the room, and as she passed out the door Joe said, "Good night, mother, good night". He called the roll before he died and

PERRY COUNTY CEMETERY RECORD..VOL II                PAGE 16

said he wanted everybody to meet him in glory...mother, three brothers and three sisters and a multitude of friends to weep for him.

We only say to the bereaved, weep not, for we believe Joe is at rest, and you should prepare to meet him in the sweet beyond, where there are no partings or sad goodbyes, but where the redeemed reign with Jesus evermore. Joe had been converted: but had never confessed, yet he lived and died in the faith.

Written by his friend, Connie Luckett

This article is believed to have been clipped from a Centerville newspaper of 1913.

Mrs Bettie Kittrell lived on Hwy 13 at the western edge of Beardstown. Her home was just before one reached the house of the late Tom Homer. She was still living in the late 1920's or early 1930's. She is believed to be buried in the Harris Cem. next to her first husband, W.W. Nichols.

OBITUARY. Charles Muller, age 79, died 9 Nov 1879 at Lobelville; native of Germany; buried near his residence by (beside) his daughter, Mrs. Dr. Hunt; wife, age 69 survives. (Hickman Pioneer Nov 1879)

The Muller family was in Perry County before 1850 but are listed on the 1850-1860-1870 census as Millers. Charles A. was born in Prussia and Mary Wilhellmina in either Holland or Germany. Their children were: 1) Emma Charlotte (Oct 18 1834-Jan 15 1871) who married first a Howard, and second, Dr A.W. Hunt as his first wife. She had one Howard child, Cornelia (ca 1864); 2) Edmond (c1833); 3) Bertha (c1837); 4) Otto (1839) ; .5) Ida (c1840); 6) Ernest (c1841)

RANDEL/RANDLE CEMETERY. The name of this cemetery was taken from the Perry County Tax Assessors records. It was indexed by me in 1992 and only one marked stone was found. It had been indexed by

David Donahue much earlier and his report follows:

"This is a very old and relatively large cemetery. It is the unnamed cemetery on Flowers Branch on the Pope quadrangle between the Woods-Treadwell Cemetery (called Bunch Cemetery on the map) and the Flowers Cemetery. This cemetery was abandoned more than a century ago. In addition, grave robbers have destroyed much of what survived neglect. There are nine or ten of the above-ground burial cairns here. It appears that some time in 1988, a group of people got together here to drink beer and plunder the cairns. All of the cairns had been broken into and dug up. Many fieldstones are still visible. Only two tombstones were found on December 25 1988. It is possible that more might be found through a careful search through the weeds. Both stones found, though toppled, were in good condition. The cemetery is large enough to have contained over 100 graves.
