Page 58: LWT of JASPER JONES was probated December 29, 1881.

 

Pages 63, 66: J.T. HARRISON died in Madison County, December, 1881. A former member of the Madison County Quarterly Court, the same group eulogized him “as one of the most genial and friendly members of this Court.” [His tombstone in the Cobb Cemetery provides only his death date, Dec. 30, 1881]

 

Page 79: LWT (executed February 15, 1879) of Dr. WILLIAM E. BUTLER was probated January 10, 1882. [Quarterly Court Minute Book 17, page 624. He died January 6, 1882. Buried in Riverside Cemetery]

 

Page 77: SARAH J. ELROD died in Davidson County, Tenn. [date not given] and SAMUEL W. ELROD died in Texas in 1861. Their brother, JAMES ELROD, served as administrator of their estates as directed by the Court, Jan. 4, 1882.

page 379: ELIZA COX, black, petitioned the Court to allow her to adopt ROSETTA KING, black, aged about 7 years, as her mother was in feeble health and her father deserted his family by going to Texas; wanted also to change the child’s name to ROSETTA REBECCA COX and agreed to make her one of her heirs. The child’s mother, EMMA KING, agreed to this petition. So allowed. December 3, 1883.
