MEACHEM CEMETERY

Meachem Cemetery is located on the south side of Hopper-Barker Road about 0.7 mile east of North Highland Avenue, on the east side of Mt. Pleasant C.M.E. Church. The cemetery lies on a relatively steep slope. Several graves are highly decorated with borders and white gravel covers. One of these has no marker and another lacks a permanent marker.

David Donahue recorded this cemetery September 28, 2003 based on earlier work by Jonathan K. T. Smith. Mr. Smith's record for this cemetery appears in his Tombstone Inscriptions from Black Cemeteries in Madison County, Tennessee Volume 2. This is referred to as Smith in the notes below.
