MAYO CEMETERY

Located on Fred Keeton's farm south of Decaturville on the Brooksie Road about-3 miles from town.

In back of the Keaton home, you can drive through field road part of the way. Cross fence, walk around pond to top of hill in pasture at the base of a cluster of trees. There are no tombstones with names but sandstone markers indicate there are at least 3 graves. Local legend is that one man took up tomb stones and used for corner stones of his house. The grandparents or great grandparents of the late "Bud" Mayo, who is buried at Red House, are buried here. Also a Mr. Cross who was cross with the world and is buried crossways is buried here.

This cemetery was indexed on July 19, 1976 by Margarett Alexander. My sincere appreciation to Mr. Andy Keaton who served as the guide.
