MT. TABOR CEMETERY
This cemetery, indicated at the northwest corner of the U.S.G.S. Perryville quadrangle (1986), is located on the old road from Parsons to Decaturville behind the Decatur County fairgrounds. It is maintained very well. There are a large number of concrete blocks. Some older concrete blocks standing upright seem to represent unidentified burials. These blacks were erected several decades ago. There are 31 now; there were 37 in 1978. There are even more concrete blocks that are whitewashed and flush with the ground surface. About half have a last name painted on them, a few have a full name. These are assumed to be space holders (although I personally do not think all the spaces being held are unused) and are not reported except for one that lists a burial date. Five square concrete posts with an "I" on top in the Ivy row are also assumed to be space holders. David Donahue recorded this cemetery October 26, 2003 and checked it October 27, 2003.
An earlier record of this cemetery was made by Doris Scott and Blanche Tuten and is dated April 28, 1978. Their record appears in Decatur County, Tennessee Cemetery Records published by the Captain Nathaniel A. Wesson Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Parsons, Tennessee, 1984, pp. 366-377. This is referred to as Scott and Tuten in the notes below.
