A statement from the decedent before his demise, "My parents were born and raised in the State of Virginia, married and moved to Kentucky in the latter part of the year 1795. I was born on the 2d day of December, 1796, between Lexington and Richmond, Ky. In October 1810, my father, George Andrews, moved to Williamson Co., Tenn. On the 16th day of May 1816 I was married to Eliza Dean and, we have lived together in great pleasure to the present time. In the fall of 1819 I became impressed religiously and sought for and found pardon and joined the M. E. Church, Nov. 1819 and was licensed as a local preacher on the 22d of September 1822. I was ordained a deacon in 1826 by Bishop Soule. In 1836 I was ordained an elder at Columbus by Bishop Roberts. In the economy of the church, there being no provision made to support her local ministers, I was forced to look to other sources for employment … in March 1840 I was elected Clerk of the Circuit Court of Williamson County and reelected thereafter from time to time and served as such continually until September 1874; my health declining at that time I withdrew from any further wish to serve the public and retired… I wish my coffin to be peculiarly plain and of sound wood. I want my grave dug a little deeper than usual. I shall ever feel grateful for the attention, affection and care that my children have ever exercised for me and are still bestowing upon me… I pray Heaven that they may find a full reward… " "Upto the closing hours of his death his mind was clear and active… With his own hand he closed his mouth and eyes and asked his son to turn his face to the wall and died."
