He entered the Memphis Conference in 1871 and filled numerous appointments, including Fulton, Hickman, Martin and Clinton. Died Martin, Tenn., Nov. 28, 1917.

DAVID ATKINS, native of S.C., moved to a farm off Coosa River, Cherokee Co., Ala.; first wife died and he married and moved to a farm near Jacksonville, Ala. [He apparently died many years ago.] An old black man, HENRY ATKINS, former slave of David Atkins, now 83 years old, lived in Jacksonville.

Rev. D. H. CARR, loyal subscriber of the CHRISTIAN ADVOCATE, Nashville, was born in Giles Co Va., July 12, 1828; son of John Carr; family moved to Mercer Co., W. Va. in March 1847; he married in 1860 and settled in Bluestone, Ky.; Confederate veteran; licensed to preach in Methodist Church, 1867 and labored for decades in the Holston Conference.

ELIZABETH LOCKHART THACH granddaughter of Daniel Coleman, a Revolutionary War soldier; her father, Daniel Coleman, moved from Carolina Co., Va. to Limestone Co., Ala. in 1819/20. He married there to a niece of James B. Lockhart from N.C. Her father was a member of the Alabama Supreme Court and a founder of the Athens Female College; married Robert H. Thach, 1859; lawyer, Athens, Ala.; graduate of Emory-Henry College and a Confederate veteran who died in 1866. Her brother, Capt. John H. Coleman, CSA, was killed at the battle of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and another brother, Lt. Richard Coleman, CSA, was killed at the battle of Chickamauga.

W. W. BALL, Maysville, Ky., announced that Dr. W. F. TAYLOR, who died a few weeks ago, left an estate valued at $40, 000 and he, Bell, was executor of same; other than bequests to his brother and sister, Dr. Taylor bequeathed $5000 to Board of Church Extension, Methodist Episcopal Church, South as a loan fund; and the balance of the estate to other church organizations, including $15,000 to Kentucky Wesleyan College.
