#598 Nancy Marshall vs. Henry Marshall et al. Filed 30 Sep. 1856.  File contains power of atty., 1859, Cherokee Co., Texas, from

Nancy Marshall to John Griffith of Monroe Co., in which Mrs. Marshall’s P.O is jacksonville, Cherokee co., Tx and Wm. P. Brittain

is clerk of that Co. Court.  John W. Marshall  died May 1851 in Monroe Co.  Widow Nancy and Israel C. Smith resigned as adms. in

Aug. or Sep. 1856 but they had kept up payments on land which John W. had bought in 1849, with Henry furnishing part of the money. 

John W. left minor children Wm. H., Martha J., John W., and Mary C. who have removed with Nancy to Texas.  1857, witness Robert

G. Marshall, 27, is brother of John W. and son of Henry.  Petition to assign 15 acres to Henry and sell balance including Nancy’s dower.

#388  James A. Dyer and wife vs. R.G. Marshall et al.  Filed 25 Apr. 1871. Petition to sell land for distribution.  Henry Marshall died

in Monroe Co., Feb 1869 leaving children: 1. Henry S. of Washington Co., Ar; 2. Joseph E. of Missouri; 3. Wm. N. of Missouri;

4. Robert G. of Monroe Co; 5. Martha J. wife of James A. Dyer of Monroe Co.; 6. John W. decd who died before his father and whose

heirs are Martha J. wife of J.L. Wright, and Wm. H., John W., and Mary Marshall all of Cherokee Co., Tx.  File has letter from Wm. H.

Marshall to lawyers to let him know if they need mother’s deposition, and that uncle John Griffith has the particulars.

This proves that the parents of Robert G. Marshall were Henry and Rebecca Griffith Marshall.
