John Roark? Brown and wife
Isabella Glass were residents of Meigs county for a number of years
- probably from about 1815 through 1845. They left Meigs County in
a 12 wagon train and were in Union County IL in 1850 and by 1855
were in Madison County AR. Does anyone have any info on this family
while they were in Meigs County or any history of the wagon
train?

I am trying to research
the Meigs County, TN origins of my branch ofthe Locke Family. The
Locke's that I am researching came from Meigs, and settled in the
Indian Territory (now the state of Oklahoma) inthelate 1800's. I
believe there were two, possibly three,. brothers whocame to Eastern
Oklahoma after the Civil War. I am not sure of theirexact names, but
one was called "Major" Locke. This "Major" Locke wasin the Civil War,
but I don't believe he ever held the rank of Major. His brother might
have been a Benjamin Locke, who held the rank ofCaptain, and is
buried in Antlers, Oklahoma. Some of theirDescendants include:
Victor Murat Locke, Elisha Sharp(e) Lock, ElishaFrank Locke, "Uncle
Dick" Locke. Some of the Descendants marriedintothe Choctaw Indian
Tribe, and became active in politics and Indianaffairs, and several
held positions as either Chiefs, or possiblyBureau of Indian Affairs
agents with the Choctaws. One of themfounded the town of Antlers,
OK.
