Mary 'Elizabeth' Smith, 83, homemaker, died of respiratory failure Saturday at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Halls Funeral Home with burial in Greenhill Memorial Gardens. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Smith, the widow of Buford Smith, leaves two sons, Jerry Smith of Gates and Gene Smith of Jacksonville, Fla., four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
