I have a list of the churches in the Soddy/Daisy area both from the churches Locality Guide and the yellow pages. Is there anyone who knows the churches in the area that were in existence at the time of 1885? Am trying to find the records of my greatgrandfather who died in Daisy in 1885. There are no civil records so thought I would write the churches. There are 30 churches noted. Some are noted as Soddy only. I would not write them. Any help in narrowing the search would be very much appreciated.
Does anyone know where Roaches Farm is?
Thanks so much for you help. Barbara from San Diego (bjs4179@aol.com)

The family story: The parents of Charles Gideon HORN, literally the "lost generation", moved from Polk County, Tennessee to Bradley County, Tennessee, about 1836. The parents were to have drowned about 1852, crossing the Tennessee River near Chattanooga, in Hamilton County, Tennessee, near Look Out Mountain. After the parents drowned, the children were to have been "bonded out" to a Methodist minister (no confirmation).
The parent's names were William & Sarah (no confirmation). Their children: Thomas Jefferson (no confirmation), born abt. 1838, Mary Ellen (no confirmation) born abt 1840, Elizabeth (no confirmation) born abt 1842, Charles Gideon born January 14, 1844, and Josephine born about 1850, all born in Cleveland, Polk County, now Bradley County, Tennessee.
Josephine did exist, as my Grandmother told of a family trip to WY, Josephine came riding a horse in from the pasture, singing a song. No info on her husband's name. Charles & Thomas were supposed to have argued over which side for the War Between the States/Civil War. Charles chose Union & Thomas chose Confederate. I have several military & pension papers, death certificate & such on Charles, but none list his parents name. Birth records for that time were to have burned in court house fire.
Please help me if you can, I thank you.

About and before 1826 a Joseph or George W. deSHA (Family says George) rode up into his yard, scooped up his older boy and road west. A younger son Joseph Franklin remained with the mother whose name is believed to have been Mariah Faye WHITEHEAD (her father, an Elliott of Ellat WHITEHEAD was a ships captain).
The deSHA couple were divorced in 1826 in Clarke County GA but I have not as yet see this document. Later Joseph Franklin and a woman old enough to be his mother but named Mary A HUNTER arrive in Florida. I find them first listed in the Alachua County Florida Census for 1850. Joseph has by now a young wife Adaline PARRISH and child. A family historian believes the older brother was named Robert Isaac Newton deSHA and that he may have been carried west as far as Tennessee where he was left in the care of a blacksmith.
I have recently come across information to the effect that Robert Isaac Newton is buried in Chattanooga. Can anyone help me with this. If anyone from Robert Isaac Newton deSHA' family should read this, you may not have known anything about his brother but you may have more info than I do on who the father was and who Mariah Fay WHITEHEAD was. I would appreciate any information.
My grandmother Stella deSHA was a daughter of Joseph Finnegan deSHA of Waldo Florida, a son of Joseph Franklin whose brother was Robert Isaac Newton deSHA.

I found my family in the 1920 Floyd County Georgia Federal Census or at least most of them. I found Connie Ethel FARRER and children Zora, Pauline, & Woodrow. My aunt Vernie swears that she was sitting in her mother's lap during the 1920 census and that the family was in Tennessee near Chattanooga in the valley between Sand Mountain and Lookout Mountain.
If she was correct then my grandfather William Sidney 'Sid' FARRER and daughter Vernie returned from somewhere, after the Georgia Census interview. Sid quickly packed up the family and moved to Hamilton County Tennessee in time for another census taker to interview Connie again.
Can someone please help me find them in an index or soundex to the 1920 Tennessee Census. Thank you for your help.

I am looking for a record of Henry ROGERS married to Mahala ROGERS according to my source, in December 1827 by Ephraim HIXSON, J.P. in Hamilton County. They show up on the 1850 Census with all of their children. Mahala died sometime 1853-1854 after the birth of her last child. She was more than likely at least part Cherokee. The family moved to Johnson county(now Logan) Arkansas around 1854. I do not know where Mahala died, either Tennessee or Arkansas. Civil War records of one son said they lived in Harrison and Hixson. That son, Edley ROGERS b. 1834 married Sinthey MCREYNOLDS Jan 10, 1981, in Harrison, TN by Rev Asa Jackson. Another son, John Alexander ROGERS b 1830, Married Mary "Angeline" in TN. moved to AR between 1854 to 1858. Third son, James W. ROGERS b 1832, married Amanda E. also from TN. More than likely whole family went together.
