I am looking for more info. on James Henry SKIPPER b. 1831 d. Sept. 6, 1896. Don't know his parents or any of his wives parents. First wife was Elizabeth Jane SAMPLES second wife was Elizabeth ASHLEY. I need more info. about his wives (birth, death, ect.) He had eight children with first wife and three with second. My Ggrandmother was the last child born, Jippie Ann SKIPPER. She was born during the flood of March 1886. When I first heard this story, many years ago, I thought somone had said that she was born in a tent on Cameron Hill (where everyone went to get away from the flood) and that her mother had died. Was also told this is how she got her name from starting out in a tent, they called her Gypsy. Recently, I was told she was born in a second story building on Market St. during the flood and was evacuted to Cameron Hill. I know that they lived in St. Elmo at one time and South Pittsburg TN. Does anyone else know all the story and more of this family? Would appreciate info.

BARCLAY

Vicki Ellis Sat Apr 18 22:18:35 2009
Record 1499 and 1856 in the Forest Hills Cemetery listed in both records is the last name BARCLAY. 1499 is Lela BARCLAY born 1887 and died 1890 buried in Lot 48 Grave 4. I also find in record 1856 W. T. BARCLAY died 1892 and he is also buried in the same lot and grave as Lela Lot 48 Grave 4. It also shows the owner of the Grave as the same person. In Aug 2001 I wrote a query in question if there was anyway to get additional info on the records and still have received no response. Does anyone out there know if, or how to get additional info for these records. If what appears is the normal thing to do, then I am thinking that this may be W. T.'s daughter that was only about 3 when she died and then he died shortly thereafter. What is strange is that if this is the W.T. I am looking for then the name Lela is totally wrong for this family and how names run in it. ANY HELP?

BARCLAY

Vicki Ellis Tue May 19 17:59:05 2009
I have other queries in regards to the same BARCLAY on this website but something that I just found was interesting. If you look at records from Forest Hills Cemetery #1499 and 1856, these two people have the same last name, and are buried in the same lot and section of this cemetery. Now I am wondering if this is my gr grandfather and was this his child Lele that died before he did as she would have only been about 3 and she would have been born after my gr grandfathers other sons, so she would have been the last child born and the only female. I nned help with this one so if there is anyone in Hamilton County that can help I would appreciate it.

My great grandfather according to family history and census was William Alfred HUFFMAN born in TN 3-Jan-1869. My mom has told me Chattanooga, but I can't verify that information. If anyone can provide any information on him, family etc. I would greatly appreciate it. I'm trying to ascertain if he was in fact born there and his parents names, if known.
Thanks
Diane Marquardt
